I’m watching Ghostbusters right now (and enjoying a fine red wine– ok, maybe not fine… it’s Barefoot Bay Cabernet Sauvignon, but I’m a grad student and that’s pretty fine as far as my budget goes). Anyhow, Ghostbusters is on AMC and the commercials are depressing (except for the Julia Roberts ones). So far there’s been two types of commercials. One is for life insurance (really does one want to think about death when watching movies from ones childhood?). The other is for Extenz-E which appears to be something for male or female (seriously, femaie. I’m not sure what’s in those things. I always assumed that the male one just contained some sort of testosterone. I don’t know what the female one would contain. Maybe I should just Google it.).. ahem… personal enhancement. So, according to AMC I should be close to death and in need of help in a certain arena. The good part is that I have wine and Dr. Man is finding me entertaining.

Hmm, I DVR'ed Ghostbusters II on AMC last night for Kiddo to watch later … I'll definitely have to fast forward through the commercials! Thanks for the head-up. 😉
But hey, it IS on AMC – American Movie Classics … so maybe that's the reason for the commercials – if we're watching the classics, we must be old! ~LOL~
I find it hilarious what ads fit each program.
I just now found out that Ghostbusters was first a movie (I have only seen a cartoon ages ago). Sigh. I will never learn all the things I would have known if I grew up here.

Heather J: I'm glad to have given you the heads up. The ads were a bit disturbing to me and I'm of age. As per your last point, I was a bit offended (by the AMC channel) that 1984 was considered old. 🙂
Aunt Becky: Me too. Sometimes I wonder if the advertisers paid attention to what program their ads were airing on.
Science Girl: All sorts of random Americana, I'd imagine you missed out on. Well, I don't know if missed would be the correct word.
Ghostbusters is well worth some crappy advertising! But yeah, I'd noticed the predominance of those ads on AMC too.
i so do not get all those extenze commercials? wha?
one of my fave good, cheap wines is jacob's creek, from australia. a friend gave me a bottle once and i liked it pretty well.
Sometimes I do wonder who they think is watching.
