I attended Dr. Man’s graduation for his department (he “graduated” from his intern year and the Final Year residents graduated from residency). At this graduation I heard the best-est thing ever. When introducing a Male Final Year Resident (MFYR), the program director said:
“MFYR is a wonderful doctor who has helped build this program. Additionally, he is the recent father of young Amy there.” Program Director gestures in the direction of MFYR’s spouse, who is holding a really cute baby. “He is an excellent husband and father and we expect that he’ll bring that excellency to Fellowship.”
Pretty nifty, huh?
How nice! Happy Graduation to him! NCLM
That is pretty cool – and congrats to Dr.Man!
Wow!! How exciting! I can only imagine how proud you are . . .
congratulations to Dr. Man, it is pretty cool that the resident was recognized for being a great father. maybe we are getting to that wonderful location called balance
Congrats to Dr. Man.
Those are wonderful comments the project director made. Almost like he expects his fellows to “human”. π Now if only we could figure out how to bottle that expectation.
That is pretty cool. Nice to see that this Program Director knows what’s important!
Congrats to Dr. Man! What a nice sentiment from the Program Director.
While DH and I are lucky enough to live in the same place now, we spent the four years of our ungrad living in different states. It was really really tough, and we weren’t even married yet! I hope you and Dr. Man bridge this two-body problem soon. π
Thanks for the NCLM comment on my blog!
Kim: Thanks π
Science Girl: I thought it was pretty nifty.
JamieD: I’m pretty pleased that he made it through his first year. I’m even happier that he’s moving home soon!
Scientist Mother: I’m hoping that this is indicative of this. It seems that medical doctors tend to have the same-ish problem with balance that we do.
Psych Post Doc: Amen! Maybe if we just find a small enough bottle… hmm…
Mary Louise: It’s also pretty unusual for a program director to recognize such priorities. That speaks wonders for the program (even if Dr. Man is leaving)
C: He’s moving home soon… so that’ll help π
VERY cool! π
